    1. It's a numbers game. In a pod of 100 quilback, one or two will eat a dead drifted fly. Midges, wet flies, and carp flies have worked. Sometimes nothing will work. If you have a chance to observe a pod of quilback, you'll see the occasional flash of silver as a fish turns to eat something in the water column. They'll eat, but picky eaters indeed.
